Information on becoming a certified English into Swedish translator

After a successful spring meeting for the language chairs in the certification program, I am happy to announce that you will have the opportunity to take the English into Swedish certification at the ATA annual conference in Boston, Oct. 26-29, or at the FIT conference, Aug. 1-4 in San Francisco.

For more information on how to register for the exam, please go to: http://atanet.org/certification/aboutexams_overview.php

There is also plenty of information there on how to prepare, how the grading works, eligibility requirements etc.

The best tip I can give is to take a practice exam, since you receive your graded passage/text back with comments. When you take the actual exam, you do not receive your graded exam back, only the results.  The practice test is sent to you and you return it to a grader who then will send you back the results. More information on requesting a practice test can be found here: http://atanet.org/certification/aboutpractice_test.php

 Why should you get certified?

Certification is by no means required to succeed as a translator. However, certified translators usually earn more and have increased credibility of being a professional translator.

Feel free to contact me at tess@swedishtranslationservices.com if you have any questions or concerns, and good luck! For certification in other Nordic languages, please contact respective language chair.
